The Civil Division of the Medina County Prosecutor's Office is seeking an attorney to advise township and county officials on a broad range of issues including employment matters, zoning, contracts, administration law, and property law. The position involves legal research, drafting opinions, litigation, and representation of clients before Federal and State courts and administrative agencies. The position requires excellent research, writing and communication skills. Candidates should possess a strong academic record, good writing and oral communication skills, and be licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio. Main duties will include: Provide professional legal advice and representation in the prosecution of criminal, misdemeanor, and traffic violations. An assistant prosecutor may be assigned to legal specialties but such assignment is not permanent and may be changed at the discretion of the Prosecutor. Make court appearances to present and prosecute cases. Prepare and present trainings to law enforcement, schools and professionals, and the community. Research and write appeal briefs, and make oral arguments before the Court of Appeals and Ohio Supreme Court. Provide legal advice to police agencies regarding status of investigations, matters of search and seizure, probable cause, search warrants, arrests, appropriate criminal charges, and other criminal law issues. Meet with police officers and general public for purposes of approving criminal charges upon review of facts and law. This position is full time with full benefits including PERS, sick leave and vacation. Starting salary is $38,000 to $43,000, commensurate with experience.
